It surely seems to be. There seems to be a degree of uncertainty in businesses as they go about navigating in an environment of hyper-nationalism, trade barriers, wars and skirmishes, and most importantly the anticipation of significant impact of AI. Businesses in general seem to be resistant to hiring full time staff for sure. Having said that, certain sectors like logistics, shipping, and several service sectors seem to be battling with both hiring and retention challenges.
Yes getting job both FT or contractual is getting difficult. Particularly at our age group. The brighter side for us is to use this time to engage, and pick up threads from long career-experiences - those attributes that are useful and come to us naturally and those which are useful but somehow eluding..
Understanding todayβs context, finding a space to contribute is a good problem to solve! No need to get panic or impatient, one has to be alert and in the flow ![]()

I am obsessed with how market research is changing. I have managed and been around the discipline for years. There is still some science to structuring the AI research and analysis but I would expect it at a fraction of the cost. And as this matures, you may not need advisory services at all.
One area that I continue to feel uncomfortable with is the natural bias that exists in the data that the LLM access. More effective and powerful is if you have your own customer data through call to text, chats, reviews, engagement history, CRM data and any surveys you may field.
I believe proprietary data (prospect/customers) will be a huge advantage for companies who know how to harness it.
